What is PTSO? 

The Parent Teacher Student Organization (PTSO) is an active community of individuals working together to help build a positive learning environment for the students at South Elementary. We share a common care and concern for the success of every student. We are a community of people that actively support each other and the efforts of our school. Our fundraisers have provided financial support for educational materials, field trips to enrich learning and have helped improve safety measures at our school.

Why should we help with fundraisers and such? Where does the money go?

Each year our PTSO works hard to fundraise money for our school community. In the past, these efforts have included the Fall Fair, Box Tops, Boosterthon and Spirit Wear sales. Below you will see some areas that we use this earned money for. 

Teacher Reimbursements - We all know teachers spend much of their own money to purchase items and materials for their classrooms. Your PTSO reimburses EACH teacher on our staff up to $200 for classroom purchases.

Staff Appreciation – Every month a special luncheon is provided for the South Staff to honor them in the amazing work they do EVERY DAY! While we get families to donate food items, we help supply paper plates, 

Third Grade Dance - Our outgoing third-grade students are treated to a special evening at the end of the school year.  Our PTSO also sponsors this event so it is FREE to all third graders! Food, decorations, music, location, set up, clean up...we make sure it's all done and ready...AND FUN for our third-graders! 

School Improvements – Your PTSO can fund special projects throughout the year when the need arises - replacing broken equipment, updating old equipment and making the school a safer place for our children and our staff.
